Restoring Homes in Rockport in the Wake of Hurricane Harvey

Challenge

The Alden Roofing company set out to offer assistance and roofing services to homeowners affected by Hurricane Harvey in the Rockport / Port Aransas / Corpus Christi area. The Corpus Christi based firm set out to rebuild roofs using state-of-the-art materials, making for a quick, effective and flexible workflow.

Hurricane Harvey will sadly remain ingrained in the country’s collective memory as one of the most destructive hurricanes to hit the U.S. in recent years. Throughout the span of four days, Harvey affected Texas, damaging thousands of homes and properties along its trail.
Rockport and Port Aransas, Texas were the areas the hurricane made landfall at its strongest, causing catastrophic damages to property and land.

Solution

Alden Roofing, a local roofing company, offered assistance where it could. Many homes had been completely ruined beyond repair, but some were still in a condition which made rebuilding possible.

The Alden team focused on homes whose roofs were damaged during the hurricane. The staff got there soon after the storm, providing assistance by tarping houses to get them dried in.

This particular home pictured was the first one the team had the opportunity to work on, but they also went on to work on many other Rockport and Port Aransas properties in the wake of the tragic hurricane.

The Alden team installed this new roof by using the Texas Windstorm approved high-wind installation method, using CertainTeed Landmark Lifetime shingles with an upgraded CertainTeed Cedarcrest hip and ridge. These materials proved their worth in this particularly extreme condition, allowing for a quick, flexible and effective repair process.

Debris from the from Hurricane Harvey’s aftermath were seemingly scattered pretty much everywhere but when this roofing project was complete, not a trace of roofing material debris was left on the property.

With their office in Corpus Christi, The Alden Roofing team continues to offer their services and support to homeowners in the Rockport / Port Aransas area…there is still a lot to do!
